Ms. Pat had also been sexually abused by a man her mother had dated previously.
At 15, Ms. Pat began selling drugs under the street name “Rabbit.” She had several run-ins with the law during her teenage years and was shot twice.
Ms. Pat’s Stand-Up Comedy Career and TV Appearances
In 2002, Ms. Pat began her stand-up comedy career at an open mic night in Atlanta. After moving to Indianapolis in 2006, she continued to hone her skills at Morty’s. Ms. Pat has appeared on several TV shows, including “BET’s Comicview,” “StandUp in Stilettos,” “Gotham Comedy Live,” “This Is Not Happening,” “Last Comic Standing,” “Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle,” “The Stand-Up Show with Katherine Ryan,” and “The Degenerates.” She has also been a frequent guest on “The Bob & Tom Show.” In 2018, Ms. Pat guest-starred in two episodes of the Fox musical drama “Star” and appeared in a music video by Young Dolph Feat. Snoop Dogg in 2019.
In 2021, Ms. Pat co-created and starred in “The Ms. Pat Show” on BET+. The series was renewed for a third season in July 2022 and earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

Ms. Pat met Garrett when she was 19. She was tired and thought she was going to die, but Garrett showed her a way out.
